This directory is a constant work in progress. The first year, we applied for and received a grant from the Maine Arts Commission under the aegis of the Sebasticook Valley Chamber of Commerce, an organization which is interested in promoting healthy activities in all areas of culture for all members of the local communities. The original grant seekers became the core of the Steering Committee.

To this group were added other local artists and community leaders. A Grants Director was hired to canvas all the towns served by the Sebasticook Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Director’s role was to set up arts activities and register artists and craftspeople. This information was compiled into this Cultural Directory. Now, in 2007, we are again in the process of updating this directory, which is being done person by person with volunteers
