of Tim Hortons Restaurant, are pleased to announce the opening of an art exhibit
at Tim Hortons on Route 7 in Newport. Local artists who are members of the
Valley Arts Alliance will have their work on display during business hours from
July 1, 2008 through August 31, 2008.
The theme of the show is Water. The show includes watercolors and acrylics by Connie Henderson of Dixmont, Grace Keown of Dixmont, Annette Houston of Newport, Bonnie Ross of
Detroit, and Marjorie Whipple of St. Albans.
A “Meet the Artists Night” will be held on Wednesday, July
16, 2008, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Tim Hortons. All are welcome to attend to
meet our local artists and see the work they are creating.
The art is for your viewing enjoyment. It is also for sale, with 10% of the proceeds going to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation and 10% to the Valley Arts Alliance. This foundation sends deserving children to camp. They have sent over 13,000 children from all over to summer camps, every store sends 2 children from the local community and this year 2 children from Newport are going to Kentucky this July.
Be sure to watch for future shows at Tim Hortons!

Valley Arts Alliance is helping Corinna celebrate Old Home Days on
Saturday, June 28th, from 10 to 3, with an Art Show and Quilt
Show. The shows will be held on the Green in the center of town.
Contest art and the quilts will be shown in large tents.
The registration fee of $20 for the art show entitles the artist to
submit one work for prize money. Selection for prizes will be by
Viewers' Choice. Artists must supply their own display booth.
There is no fee to show quilts, both old and new. VAA members Amy
Nichols, Alison Olds, Betty Pentland, Priscilla Hoekstra and Annette
Houston will be showing the "new" in their Art Quilts. Members are
encouraged to dig out the old well-worn and beloved quilts stored away
in attics and chests to display.
For registration information for either go to the Corinna town office
website, www.corinna.govoffice.com.
